2024-2025 Registration Information for Preschool
We offer free preschool programs for students who qualify. School begins in August.
Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP): This is the FREE state funded preschool program for four year old children. GSRP preschool is designed to meet needs based on results compiled from preschool screening, parent interview, and student observation. Students meet Monday through Friday from 8:50 am – 3:51 pm. Visit our GSRP page for more information.
Early Childhood Special Education program (ECSE): This program is designed to meet the needs of a special group of three to five year olds residing in our district. It provides a variety of developmentally appropriate activities to meet each child’s individual needs. In addition, support services are provided by both the Fitzgerald and MISD ancillary, and other related service staff. Transportation is provided. Students must have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) to be enrolled. Students meet Monday through Friday from 8:50 – 11:58 am or 12:43 – 3:51 pm.
Registration is available online for GSRP and ECSE if you are interested in having your child attend. Eligibility for your child to attend our free program(s) will be determined once ALL completed paperwork is turned into our office and a parent interview is conducted.
2024-2025 Registration Information for Kindergarten & Young 5’s
Our Kindergarten program provides a strong foundation for later success in school. In Kindergarten, your children will learn to become effective learners as they develop and extend language and communication skills, develop social-emotional skills such as self-confidence, self-regulation, independence, cooperation and problem solving skills and develop the necessary academic skills to assist them with reading, writing and math. These skills and more are achieved through large and small group instruction, instruction that is individualized to meet the needs of each student and daily opportunity for cooperative interaction through play.
We are excited to be offering a Young 5’s program for students who will be five years of age between July 1 and December 1. The Young 5’s program is a bridge between Preschool and Kindergarten providing young learners the opportunity to learn and grow in an environment that is tailored to meet their academic and social needs. Current Kindergarten curriculum reflects skills that were taught in First Grade. Give your child the gift of time and enroll in Young 5’s. Your child will attend traditional Kindergarten the following year. For more information, please call (586) 757-5150.
Curriculum: English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies curriculum aligns with Michigan State Standards. As part of the daily schedule, Kindergarten students attend one Specials class – Technology, Gym, Art, Sparty Skills for Success, Media or Music.
Eligibility: Students born between September 1 and December 1 will be screened and placed appropriately into Kindergarten or Young 5’s by the school team. Parents of students born before September 1 may also request their child be placed in Young 5’s if the results of the students’ screening shows it would benefit the child.
Days/Times: Monday through Friday, 8:50 am – 3:51 pm; Early Release Days, 8:50 am – 2:21 pm; Half Days, 8:50 am – 12:05 pm.
Registration is available online if you are interested in having your child attend. Enrollment is not complete until ALL required paperwork is turned into our office.
